Keinosuke Enoeda (July 4, 1935 – March 29, 2003) was a renowned Japanese Shotokan karate master known as the “Tiger of Shotokan” for his powerful fighting spirit and dynamic technique. Born in Kyushu, Japan, he trained in judo, kendo, and baseball before studying karate at Takushoku University and later becoming a top competitor at the Japan Karate Association (JKA), winning the JKA All Japan Kumite Championship in 1963. In 1965 he was sent to England to help spread Shotokan internationally and became Chief Instructor of the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB), where he built one of the strongest traditional karate organizations outside Japan. Respected for his strict discipline, technical precision, and deep commitment to traditional training, Enoeda taught in the UK for nearly four decades and was posthumously awarded 9th dan, leaving a lasting global legacy in Shotokan karate.
