MASARU MIURA, who descends from an ancient Samurai family on his maternal dynasty, was born in Shizuoka, Japan in 1939 and arrived in Italy in 1964 after a brief period in England, his first contact with the European continent.
A graduate of Economics and Business from the prestigious Takushoku Karatebu University in Tokyo, he practiced Karate-do for years alongside his university studies under the guidance of Master Masatoshi Nakayama.
He came to Italy for the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, where he soon combined his work in import and export with a commitment and passion for teaching the Noble Martial Art.
In 1977 he participated in the founding of the Shotokan Karatedo International Federation of Soke Hirokazu Kanazawa and in 1979 in Italy he founded the SKK-I, which quickly gained prominence throughout the country.
SKIF, through its managers Kancho Nobuaki Kanazawa and Shuseki-Shihan Manabu Murakami, awarded Soshi Masaru Miura the rank of 10th Dan, effectively recognizing him as the highest reference rank in the SHOTOKAN KARATE-DO INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION .
